HEMATOPOIETIC PROPENSITY OF ETHANOLIC LEAF EXTRACT OF Colocasia esculenta LINN. IN WISTAR RATS Paper ID: AJMPR-17-10-2019-140
Abstract : The aim of this study is to evaluate the hematopoietic propensity of ethanolic leaf extract of Colocasia esculenta in wistar rats. Fifteen rats used for the experiment were acclimatized for seven days were divided into three groups of five rats each. Animals in group A were administered saline solution, those in group B were administered 250 mg/kg body weight of C. esculenta leaf extract, while those in group C were administered 500 mg/kg body weight of C. esculenta leaf extract. The administration was done 12 hourly for twenty-eight days via oral route since the plant is consumed orally. At the end of the treatment, animals were fasted overnight and anaesthetized using diethyl ether. Blood samples were collected by cardiac puncture. A significant increase was observed in the PCV, Hb, RBC, MCV, WBC, lymphocyte, neutrophil and platelet counts of control animals when compared with those treated with leaf extract of C. esculenta at p<0.05. The significant increase observed in the erythrocyte parameters of animals used in this study indicates that C. esculenta leaves have haematopoietic properties and can be used to boost blood level especially in menstruating and pregnant women as well as anaemia patients. Its ability to significantly increase white blood cell parameters is an indication that C. esculenta leaves can boost the immune system and thus defend the body against xenobiotics.

Screening of Cane Genotypes Under Sprinkler Irrigation at Early Selection Stage for Tolerance to Sugarcane Streak Mosaic Virus (SCSMV) at Ferké Sugar Estates in Ivory Coast Paper ID: AJAHS-17-10-2019-139
Abstract : Sugarcane streak mosaic virus (SCSMV) became the major endemic disease of economic importance in Ivorian sugar estates almost two years ago, which spreads very fast across plantations and varieties. The study aimed to determine resistant sugarcane genotypes against SCSMV in Ferké sugar estates. It involved five experiments conducted at first selection stage under sprinkler irrigation, following a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with 20 to 30 different genotypes, two check varieties included, all in 4 replicates. Experiments were planted in October or December 2018, and expected to be harvested in November or December 2019 and 2020 as plant cane and first ratoon, respectively. Disease incidence and severity across all experiments were determined at 3 to 4 months, i.e. at early formative growth stage where symptoms due to SCSMV can be easily observed and recognized in the field. Highly significant differences in disease incidence and severity within cane genotypes tested were observed which shows their genetic diversity regarding crop resistance or susceptibility to SCSMV. Fifty percent of genotypes tested were found tolerant that disease, 23% moderately resistant as well as susceptible, 4% highly susceptible and 5% asymptomatic or supposed to be highly resistant. At the end of the current selection stage under way, i.e. after harvest of first ratoon, only the best yielding genotypes among the resistant ones will undergo the advanced selection stage.

SIMULATION OF A ROBOT ARM THAT MIMICS THE ANGULAR MOVEMENT AND CONTROL OF AN AUTHENTIC HUMAN ARM Paper ID: JEECS-15-10-2019-137
Abstract : This paper contains the research report of the simulation of robot arm of model ISO18E using simulink software to achieve reproducing a robot arm that will mimic the functionality and control of an authentic human arm at different joints. The challenges were found to be the ability to determine the basic characters of the robot arm including evaluating the positioning in simulation and the model cost. The method used to get the results was simulation of a modeled robot arm ISO18E in a software environment (simulink software). In the research the modeled robot arm, five joints were simulated referencing the authentic human arm and its joints. The human joints taken into considerations were the shoulder, elbow, wrist, metacarpophalangeal and the interphalangeal joints. The results of controlling effects of the simulated robot arm were compared with the prototype of real human arm and from the comparison it was found that the robot arm was able to be simulated to have same angular rotation per instant time at each joint as the real human arm. This research will proffer a reasonable assistance to the armless and deformed community to accomplish a task without stress and constraints in gripping, manipulating and controlling with the aid of this robot arm.

Simultaneous Occurrence of a Meckel's diverticulum and a patent urachus: A case report in infant Paper ID: JMHS-14-10-2019-136
Abstract : Meckel’s Diverticulum (MD) is a rare condition defined as a heterotopic gastric or pancreatic tissue in the small intestine, secondary to persistence of the congenital vitello-intestinal duct. It is the remnant of the yolk channel located about 60-80 cm from the ileocecal junction. Simultaneous existence of a Meckel’s Diverticulum and a patent urachus is an uncommon situation .It may be asymptomatic for long time .MD is a common anomaly of the small intestine that occurs in approximately 2% of the population, often found incidentally at the time of abdominal exploration. Complications arising from a Meckel’s diverticulum or urachal remnant may clinically mimic acute appendicitis and other surgical pathologies. We report on a patient who referred to pediatric surgery with abdominal pain and deterioration of general status. On physical examination his abdomen was distended with guarding. A diagnosis of acute peritonitis by intestine perforation was made. The patient underwent a surgery and in the course of the surgery, a urachal remnant was found to coexist with a Meckel’s diverticulum.

Exponentially-fitted Third-Order Adams-Bashfort Method Paper ID: AJMPA-11-10-2019-135
Abstract : In this paper, the construction of Exponentially-Fitted (EF) versions of the third-order Adam-Bashfort method for oscillatory problems is presented. The convergence and stability properties of the constructed methods are investigated. Numerical experiments confirming the theoretical expectations regarding the constructed methods compared with other standard classical methods are also presented.
